We also service Europe and ship worldwide to most countries. Tamworth began as a Saxon settlement in Staffordshire, it was the Tame worth or the enclosure by the River Tame. It was made into an important place by King Offa of Mercia (a Saxon kingdom that roughly corresponded to the Midlands of England). Tamworth was rebuilt in 913 by Ethelflaeda the king’s sister and is steeped in history with its 12-century medieval Castle. A well-preserved medieval church in Tamworth town centre (the church of St Editha) and a Moat House. Tamworth was the capital of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia during the Heptarchy of seven kingdoms and throughout its later, greater, form. Tamworth is also known as Sandy Back and Tam, this is a rare breed of domestic pig originating in its namesake Tamworth, Staffordshire. You may well have heard in the news about the two that escaped and were saved and aptly named the Tamworth Two. Therefore, we named ourselves Mercia Movers, to uphold the tradition and history of our town.
