UAE Removals
The United Arab Emirates is made up of several states including Dubai, Umm Al-Qaiwain, Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, the capital. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the most common destinations we relocate people to every year.
Many Brits are drawn to the UAE each year for it’s glorious climate, landscape, beautiful beaches and the added bonus of paying no tax on earnings. Its glamorous and exotic lifestyle make the UAE one of the most westernised countries in the Middle East. Its stunning scenery and high standard of living mean it has become one of the most desirable destinations for ex-pats worldwide.
The UAE is an Islamic State and therefore any importing goods should not ship any non-Islamic religious items. All goods are shipped into Jebel Ali port, which is one of the busiest ports in the world. Clients must be present in the country when the consignment arrives and maybe expected to pay custom inspections charges and tax. Our dedicated move co-coordinators will take you through the entire process and we offer a variety of services to move your goods.
These are as follows: Shared Container (Groupage). This is the recommended option if you’re not shipping a whole house. Your belongings will be sent to the UAE in a shared shipping container and you will only be charged for the space you use. This option is great if you’re moving to the UAE on a budget and you don’t mind waiting slightly longer for your items.
Full Container Load (FCL). This is the recommended option if you’re shipping a whole house to the UAE. You’ll be charged for a full container to fill how you wish. We will deliver the container to your UK residence, pack it for you and then ship it to the UAE and deliver it to your new home. This option costs more, but it is much quicker than a shared container.

Moving to Dubai – Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship to Dubai?
Shipping from the UK to Dubai typically takes 4–6 weeks via sea freight. Air freight is faster but more costly (1–2 weeks).
What items are restricted or prohibited in Dubai?
Prohibited items include certain medications, pork products, gambling-related material, and politically sensitive content. Alcohol requires a permit.
What paperwork is required to move to Dubai?
You’ll need your passport, UAE visa or residency documents, a detailed inventory, and an import permit if required. We’ll guide you through it.
Can I bring my vehicle to Dubai?
Yes, but the car must be left-hand drive and meet UAE regulations. Import duty applies. We’ll help with compliance and logistics.
Do I need to be in Dubai when the shipment arrives?
Yes, or you’ll need to nominate a licensed clearance agent. We can act on your behalf and handle the entire process.
Is insurance required for shipping to Dubai?
It’s optional but highly recommended. We offer transit insurance to protect against damage, loss, or delays.
Are there duties or taxes on my goods?
Yes. Most household goods are subject to a 5% customs duty. We’ll confirm what’s applicable to your move.
Can I store my items if my home in Dubai isn’t ready?
Yes. We offer secure storage in the UK or Dubai — ideal if your move-in date is delayed.
What is the best way to pack for Dubai?
We recommend our professional export wrapping. If packing yourself, avoid restricted goods and clearly label all boxes.
